| Follow
these steps to configure a new Client Access Printer session that is connected DIRECTLY to a PC:

| 1. The first thing you will to
do is get the printer make and model, then go the IBM website for
Host Print Transform
This will allow you to find out what you need to make the printer look like so the AS/400 knows
how to use it. Click on the make of your printer and then find your model when the next page
comes up. The value that you are looking for is in the MFRTYPMDL for HPT column, you will need
to record this for use in step 7.

| 2. Click the Windows START
button --> Programs --> IBM AS/400 Client Access --> Emulator --> Start or Configure,
you will then see this window. Click on New Session.

| 3. You will now see the
Configure window Put the IP Address of your system in the System Name box.
|
| 4. You must have a
permanent WSID assigned to a printer session, put it in the Workstation ID box, a
WSID it can only be two(2) characters and must be unique.
|
| 5. Make sure that the Printer
radio button is selected and then click the Select button that is now accessable, this
allows us to set the configuration for the specific printer.

| 6. The PC5250 Printer Emulation
Setup page is now displayed, click the Transform Print Data to ASCII on iSeries.

 |
| 7. Click the Printer Model drop down
box and select the printer model that you found in step 1 and click OK.

| 8. You should now be back on the
Configure PC5250 screen, click OK.
|
 |
| 9. You should now be at a screen
that is showing the printer ready and online.
|
 |
| 10. Click File on the menu bar.
|
| 11. Click Save, and you will be at the
Save Workstation screen.
|
| 12. Name the printer session (what you used
in step 4).WS use the default folder to save it in, and click OK.
|
 |
| 13. Next on the menu bar click Edit -->
Preferences --> Apperance --> Window Setup and you should see the Window Setup screen, make the box selections
reflected here on your screen, make the session ID match the one you specified in step 4. Then click OK.

| 14. Close the session by clicking the red X
in the upper right corner, and minimize all the screens you have open.

| 15. Click the Windows START
button --> Programs --> IBM AS/400 Client Access --> Emulator --> Start or Configure, drag the printer
session icon to your desktop. You are now setup to run normally.
